Animal Haven and HEART are partnering to offer the Caring Kids Program, which introduces children and teens to basic animal care and informs them about existing issues in animal welfare. Caring Kids nourishes the bond between humans and animals and encourages young people to become animal advocates in their community.
Programs mainly geared towards the 5-13 age range, but any participant between the ages of 4 and 18 yrs. is welcome.Animal Body Language: How can you tell what an animal is feeling? Learn about dog and cat body language to understand what our companion animals are feeling. Compare how animals feel to how people feel. NYRR Open Run: St. Mary's Park-Dogs Welcome

Open Run is a community-based, volunteer-led running initiative bringing free weekly runs and walks to local neighborhood parks, across all five boroughs of NYC. All runs are directed by volunteers and are free to all participants. The finish line is open until the last person is done. The courses vary based on the park, but the courses are between 2.5 and 3 miles long.
Participants are encouraged to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the run and to leave their valuables at home – bag check is not provided. No need to do anything before the run, just show up. Open to all ages, experience levels, walkers, strollers, dogs: All are welcome! Mother’s Comfort Project brings volunteers together for sewing sessions to create comfy and cheery beds for shelter animals, as well as catnip toys for the cats.
